In simple terms, the law of attraction means that like attracts like. The HuffPost explains it using the law of vibration – “1) Everything is vibration, 2) Vibrations of similar frequencies are drawn together, and 3) You have the ability to control your vibration”. The thoughts and feelings that you focus on, positive or negative, is what materialise in the future. This applies to achieving career goals as well.
It’s not just a theory. Many prominent figures around the world are advocates of the law of attraction and admit to having used it to create their success – including author Jack Canfield, metaphysician Dr Joe Vitale and quantum physicist Fred Alan Wolf. Quotes of many well-known historical figures also resonate with the same message.
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions”– Albert Einstein
Create a vision board
I first learned about the law of attraction about ten years ago, thanks to ‘The Secret’ documentary DVD, produced by Rhonda Byrne and Paul Harrington (currently on Netflix Australia). It introduced me to vision boards.
Before creating one, you need to decide what you want to achieve in your career, i.e. what will career success look like. Don’t settle for less – aim for your dream career. Capture these goals in graphic form on your vision board. A picture does speak a thousand words. Visualising your goals help to stay focused and motivated.
I am a great believer of the law of attraction because I ended up achieving each and every goal on my first vision board, over the last ten years.
Visualising career aspirations alone isn’t enough. You need to be determined and believe that you can achieve them. This unwavering commitment will drive you to take the necessary actions towards achieving your goals. Whether it is taking a course to develop new skills, connecting with a mentor, making a career change or starting a new business.
Enjoy the wait
Career success doesn’t come about overnight. It takes time and we all know it. Time during which it is very easy to doubt, feel disappointed and give up. Instead, focus on gratitude for the positive aspects of your present career – doing a job you love, working for a great company or having a good leader. Think of affirmations that will help you envision how career success would make you feel.
Staying true to your purpose is so important. This will let you dust off and keep going, even if you don’t make it the first time or face setbacks.
Celebrate the wins
When your hard labour does yield fruit, remember to celebrate and feel the joy. Share your success story. Career success is a journey rather than a destination. Acknowledging your success will drive you to keep improving and reach for the next step.
“What we think, we become”– Buddha
Career success begins with a thought. If you believe in and commit to your career goals, you will achieve them. Visualise your goals and feel the joy of achieving them. Practice gratitude. Your mind has the power to attract career success if you consciously focus your thoughts on it. That’s the law of attraction and it does not fail.
